The Veilborn Lexicon

Terms whispered through the walls, remembered in blood.

The Veil

That which separates the living from the forgotten.
Not a wall, but a skin—alive, reactive, and ancient. It is memory incarnate. It remembers everything the world tries to forget.

Veilborn

Beings shaped within the Veil.
They were never human, never alive. They are watchers, fragments of the First Silence given form. They are not meant to feel. Adriel, Seraphine’s father, was born Veilborn—but learned to love.

The Hollow

Blackthorn Hollow.
A village surrounded by blackthorn trees and older secrets. Built atop buried rituals, haunted graves, and memory that loops. It is as much a place as it is a wound.

Thorne Manor

The house that birthed me. The house that remembers.
It is alive, veiled, and cursed. The manor is a mouth, not a home. Some rooms forget you. Others never let go.

The Codex Obscura

The ancestral record of the Thorne line.
Part grimoire, part confession. Begun by Lady Alys Thorne. Added to by many. Hidden. Burned. It writes back.

The Hollowed Flame

Moira Thorne, the witch who burned and birthed a prophecy.
Her flame was not extinguished. It was buried. Her magic is still breathing under stone.

Seraphine

She who was buried breathing.
Daughter of the Veil and flame. The first vampire. The one they tried to forget. My blood-mother.

The Unforgiven Place

Where the Veilborn exile their own.
A realm of broken memory, looping sorrow, and forbidden longing. Moira and Adriel were cast there—and escaped only by tearing the Veil.

Dreamwalking

The ancestral ability to step between memory and vision.
The Thorne blood carries it. I carry it. It is not sleep. It is trespass.

Watcher’s Mark

A symbol burned into a soul by the Veil itself.
Some are born with it. Some earn it. It allows one to witness things they were never meant to see.

The Blackthorn Seal

A ritual used to trap or silence power.
Used to bury Seraphine. Used to silence witches. But it cannot hold what was never fully alive.

The First Silence

What existed before creation.
The Veil’s birthplace. The unspoken space where form first recoiled from light.
